Bahman Infrastructure Development Group

The Nangerd mine holds a confirmed reserve of more than 23 million tonnes of andesite, in Ashtian County near Nangerd railway station, and is operated by Bahman Infrastructure Development Group. Given the nature of the stone (andesite) and its compressive strength, water absorption and Los Angeles value, it is well suited for use as ballast; the ballast produced is approved by the national railway and is the best ballast in the west of the country. The operator estimates annual sales of 300,000 tonnes and, with the two active crusher lines on site, can produce more than one million tonnes a year.

The company

Nangerd Ballast Mine is operated by Bahman Infrastructure Development Group in Ashtian County, Markazi Province. It extracts andesite and processes it into railway ballast and aggregates. What leaves the site is graded product, not raw rock.

The deposit

The mine works a large andesite deposit — a reserve of 23,388,750 tonnes confirmed by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, and an estimated total above 50 million tonnes over an area of about 191 hectares. Supply is secured for the long term.

What we undertake

To deliver ballast and aggregates on time, to the specification written in the enquiry, and not to publish laboratory numbers that have not been issued.

On site

Extraction, crushing, screening, inspection, stockpiling and loading are all done at the mine. The stone is worked as an open pit in three benches — mostly with ripper and breaker rather than heavy blasting — and crushed on jaw and impact (kubit) lines.

Capacity

The licensed output is 300,000 tonnes a year. With the two active crusher lines on site, the mine can produce more than one million tonnes a year as demand grows.

Products

The mine supplies railway ballast, sand, pea gravel, almond gravel and base. Each product is kept to its size. If a buyer needs test results, those results are confirmed before the load leaves.

Dispatch

Loads leave the stockyard by road or rail on the date agreed with the buyer. The mine is about one kilometre from Nangerd station, and a 2,000-metre in-mine branch line — its substructure already built — will let wagons be loaded on site.

Technical data

The published tables follow the usual ballast and aggregate standards, and the ballast is approved by the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways. A load certificate is issued only when the tests have been done.
