Almond Gravel
Almond gravel — badami — is the 12 to 25 mm crushed fraction of Nangerd andesite. It is the main coarse aggregate for structural and mass concrete and for asphalt, and it also serves drainage and road works. Crushed from hard, dense andesite, it is strong, angular and low in absorption.
Almond gravel must be sound, clean and durable: free of clay, silt, gypsum and sulfates, resistant to freeze–thaw, abrasion and impact, and cubical rather than flaky. The impact (kubit) crusher used at Nangerd produces well-shaped, cubical particles, which improves concrete and asphalt performance and keeps flakiness low.
