Saeed Torki, director general of Arak Railway, told ISNA that the ballast mine site would be connected to the national rail network through Nangerd station.
Supply to the network
He said the project would supply at least 250,000 tonnes of ballast a year for maintenance of lines in the south, west and centre of the country, and would raise regional freight tonnage.
Loading on site
Wagon loading will take place at the mine site without disrupting operations at Nangerd station. The connection also supports employment and revenue for the railway and the province.
The mine
Nangerd is described in the report as the country's largest ballast mine. Its product is used in road and rail construction, dams and bridges, and building works.
