English technical overview
Micro-Deval testing measures aggregate wear under a specified laboratory arrangement involving water and an abrasive charge. The reported loss must be interpreted with sample identity, grading, preparation, recovery and the chosen test method. It is not interchangeable with Los Angeles loss, absorption or every environmental durability indicator. ASTM D6928-17 is marked withdrawn in 2026 on the official ASTM catalogue; historical reports and current contractual requirements therefore need careful edition checks. AASHTO and European procedures have their own scope, and EN 1097-1 includes provisions relevant to railway ballast. The Persian guide explains the mechanism, clearly hypothetical mass calculations, representative sampling, uncertainty in comparisons, investigation of unusual results and reporting practice. Existing product photographs illustrate aggregate, not an actual test result. Project acceptance criteria remain distinct from the measured loss, and no single laboratory value certifies the complete performance of a railway track.
